There is a saying in Bengali "baro mashe Tero parbon". Different festivals are celebrated in West Bengal throughout the year. People of different religions live in West Bengal. They are very much religious minded. They show respect in all religions. There are so many festivals are celebrated in West Bengal. some are religious and some are national festivals. At first new year is observed in Bengal. people wish Each Other by saying "Happy New Year "and enjoy the day very much. After that some national festivals of occurred.Like Netaji's birthday,repuplic day etc. People show great tribute to the patriots of our country. Next comes saradwati pooja. It is a famous festival for Hindus. Mainly children worship Goddeds saraswati in schools,colleges and many educational centers. Holi, charok,nabobarsho and many other festivals come one by one. In the month of May people celebrate rabindrajayanti,nazrul jayanti etc. Actuality people of bengal are very culture lovers. On15th August we celebrate our national festival. This is our Independence Day. On that day we celebrate by national flag hoisting and singing our national anthem. In the month of October we celebrate our greatest religious festival Durga puja.This festival is celebrated all of over India. It is mainly celebrated by Hindus. The schools,colleges offices remain closed in this festival. People wesr new colorful dresses on this festival. Durgapuja is continued through 5 days. People visit pandels to pandels to see the idols and enjoy very much. then comes Lakshmi puja, Kali puja,bhai ditiya, RathJatra one by one. Great muslim festival Eid ul Fitr, Eid ul Zuha also observed in West Bengal.Great Christian's festival Good Friday, Christmas also observed in Bengal. So we can say West Bengal is a land of festivals and people live here with great joy and happiness.
