A Mission Stepping towards Cleanliness :- Swachh Bharat Mission that is a major cleanliness drive was launched all over the nation on 2nd October 2014 by the Indian PM. The reason for launching the mission on the 2nd of October was to fulfill the dream of Mahatma Gandhi to make India a 'Clean India'. The mission has been initiated with a goal to make every district and town of rural and urban India clean.

The Need for Swachh Bharat Abhiyan in India :-

There are several reasons to state that there is the utmost need for a cleanliness drive in India. It can only save our nation from the havoc that might happen in the future due to due to the ignorance of the people of India.

The habit of irresponsibly throwing the waste outside anywhere is not sensible and would turn into serious issues in the future especially plastic waste.
Open defecation mostly in rural areas is of great concern. People in villages do no prefer to use toilets and in cities do not clean the toilets. In this way, it gives rise to bad sanitation.
Spitting tobacco especially on the walls of the government places and offices gives the worst scene and also not a good practice.
The open dumping of waste leads to the contamination of air, water, and soil. This is the root cause of many air-borne and water-borne diseases between the people.
The schools of villages with no proper sanitation and toilets for girls and boys and if toilets are there they are in a dirty condition.

How is Swachh Bharat Mission Observed in India?

The Swachh Bharat Abhiyan has brought many changes among the people of India. The people of the rural areas have toilets built in their houses. People in the villages get an amount of Rs 12000 sanctioned from the government for constructing toilets. People especially women need not go in the open for defecation. Access to safe drinking water in villages reduces the risk of several diseases.

The proper waste disposal system for the collection of waste and its disposal has helped a lot. Now there are separate dustbins to dispose of the wet and dry waste. This has reduced the problem of piles of waste thrown here and there. It basically becomes the breeding grounds for insects, moles, and rats. The foul smell produced by the decaying of the waste is reduced by disposing of the waste properly in the bins. People have developed the habit of sweeping with brooms, disposing of the waste in dustbins, and keeping their environment clean.

Conclusion :- Cleanliness is most important for the healthy living of the people in the nation. The Swachh Bharat Mission has been implemented by the involvement of the Prime Minister itself with a vision to make India a clean nation.
